Brushed aluminium and metallic vinyl wrap

Brushed vinyl has the fine lines of metal sanded in one direction, like the aluminium in luxury interiors. Metallic vinyl has tiny flakes that give the colour depth. Both look great on a car or motorbike and at home too: on the fridge, kitchen units, doors or a desk.

The brushing direction

The lines of brushed vinyl are visible, so every piece has to run the same way, usually horizontally along the line of the dashboard or the car. Mark the direction on the backing paper before you cut and don't turn the pieces round.

In the car and at home

In the car: dashboard, centre console, panels, roof or wing mirrors. At home: kitchen units, appliances and doors; the surface must be smooth and non-porous. For a warmer interior, combine it with wood-grain vinyl.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wrap my fridge in brushed aluminium?

Yes, on the smooth metal of a fridge you get a stainless steel look. Clean and degrease it well first, and avoid areas that get hot.

Does it show if the pieces run in different directions?

Yes, brushed vinyl reflects light differently in each direction. Lay every piece with the lines running the same way.

What is the difference between brushed and metallic vinyl?

Brushed has fine lines like sanded metal; metallic is a solid colour with shiny flakes.

Can I use it on the dashboard?

Yes, it is one of the most common uses. If you can, remove the trims, wrap them off the car and keep the same brushing direction everywhere.
