Wrap your dashboard and trims

Over the years, dashboard trims get scratched, fade or simply look dated, like the fake wood inserts in many cars from a decade ago. Vinyl is the cheapest way to refresh them: it goes on over the original part, follows the curves with heat and comes off whenever you like. It's the most specific part of our car interior wrap page.

Which finish?

How much do you need?

The dashboard and console trims of a car fit in 50 cm × 152 cm (€25.99). If you want to do the door trims too, order 1 m.

The trick to stop it lifting

The dashboard gets very hot in summer. To stop the vinyl coming away, remove the trim, leave 1 or 2 cm of spare film, warm the edge and fold it round the back of the part. When you refit it, the edge is hidden and held in place.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wrap the whole dashboard?

The trims, yes, no problem. The large, soft part of the dashboard with a textured plastic finish is harder and doesn't always look good; we recommend sticking to trims and inserts.

What if the trim has a texture?

Vinyl copies the surface underneath it, so a strong texture will show a little. Sand it lightly or choose a patterned finish, such as carbon or wood, which hide it better.

How much vinyl do I need?

50 cm does the dashboard and console trims of almost any car. With 1 m, the door trims too.

Do I need special tools?

A plastic trim tool to remove the parts, a hairdryer, a cutter and our felt-edged squeegee are enough. About €10 in total if you have nothing.
