Wrap your wing mirrors

Wrapping the wing mirror covers is the small change with the biggest effect: in carbon they give an instant sporty feel, and in gloss black they match a black roof or a chrome delete on the window trims. They're very curved parts, so this is where you notice most that our vinyl is heat-formable: it stretches and fits without creases.

How much do you need?

50 cm (€25.99) does both covers on almost any car, with enough left to redo one. If it's your first time, 75 cm gives you more margin. For large van or SUV mirrors, 75 cm or 1 m.

How to wrap a wing mirror

Ideally, take the cover off (on many cars it just clips off). Clean it, cut a piece with some margin, warm the film and stretch it from the centre of the cover towards the edges, in a cross pattern. Fold the excess inside and trim with the cutter. The key is heat: a hairdryer or heat gun, and patience.

Frequently asked questions

How much vinyl do I need for the wing mirrors?

50 cm does both mirrors on a car. If you want margin to practise, choose 75 cm.

Do I have to remove the mirror?

It's not essential, but the result is better. If you don't remove it, tilt the glass inwards so you can fold the film over the edge of the cover.

Is it hard to wrap a wing mirror?

It's the most curved part of the car, so it takes patience. With heat and stretching little by little from the centre you get a crease-free finish, and 50 cm gives you material to try again.

Can it be removed later?

Yes, warm it a little and it peels off without damaging the paint on the cover.
