How we work out the metres

We start from the typical size of each part for your type of car, add 10 cm on each side so you can handle the vinyl, and lay the parts out on the 152 cm roll like a puzzle to make the most of it. From the total length we recommend the roll size that covers everything for the least money.

If you'd rather measure yourself, you'll find the full table and tips in our guide How much vinyl do I need? The table by part. And if you're unsure about your car, drop us a line: we'll work it out for free.

FAQs

How many metres of vinyl do I need to wrap a car?

For a supermini or hatchback, about 15 m of 152 cm roll; for a saloon, about 17 m; and for an SUV or large estate, 18 to 20 m. If you also wrap the inner door frames, add 2 or 3 m.

How much vinyl do I need for the roof and bonnet?

For a hatchback roof, 2 m; for an SUV, 3 m. A car bonnet takes 1.5 to 2 m. If you do both, a 5 m roll covers them with enough left for the wing mirrors.

Why does the calculator add extra to each part?

Because you need about 10 cm on each side to hold and stretch the vinyl, which is trimmed off afterwards. Without that margin you'd come up short at the edges.

Is it better to buy one big roll or several small ones?

One big roll: it's cheaper per metre and all the colour comes from the same batch, so you won't see any difference in shade between parts. We ship it in one piece, rolled in a tube.
